SSI Swim Teacher Level 1 gives you the skills to teach swimming confidently, safely, and effectively — and turn them into a flexible part-time job while you’re still studying.
What you will actually learn
Plan a lesson
Structure a class so every minute in the water has a purpose.
Communicate
Explain and demonstrate a skill so a nervous beginner actually gets it.
Read swimmers
Spot what someone needs next and adjust on the spot.
Lead on safety
Know your responsibilities in and around water — and act fast when it counts.
Why it pays off
Earn while you study
Professional hourly rates. A few classes a week can beat a full weekend of retail — and hours scale up over the holidays.
Recognised worldwide
Issued by SSI and valid internationally, so the qualification travels with you if you study or work abroad.
Resume proof
Hard evidence you can lead a group and communicate under pressure — something most graduates can only claim.
You are not alone
Join a coaching team, shadow experienced instructors and get feedback while you find your feet on the deck.
What it actually costs
Start from the student rate and switch on what applies to you.
Student rate $700 · usual $1,000
after the options you switched on
UTAP is for NTUC union members — student membership is inexpensive and pays for itself here. Not eligible? Your rate stays at $700. Atome instalments are available either way.
